Designed with Jens J. J. Christensen for Jonstrupvang, a residential care facility for spastics, to provide the residents with new recreational opportunities.
The main aspect of the design was to keep the space open for maximum accessibility and to provide a sense of equality between residents and personnel. Therefore an open main space was designed free of obstacles. Docking on to the main space is an open fireplace and a bay looking over a pond to the forest. Towards a communal lawn two sliding doors open allowing direct connection to the outside. Exterior siding and roof of boards and shingles in untreated Norwegian spruce, traditionally used for its natural resistance to water and rot due to its closed cell structure.
